Regular Season Round 9: Nkumba LM - KCCA Leopards 35-72

There was no surprise in Kampala where 10th ranked Nkumba LM (1-9) was crushed by second ranked KCCA Leopards (9-2) 72-35 on Friday. KCCA Leopards held Nkumba LM to an opponent 20.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.9 percent accuracy of the winners. KCCA Leopards forced 30 Nkumba LM turnovers and outrebounded them 63-49 including 19 on the offensive glass. Forward Becky Longom stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Catherine Haruri (-1992) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four KCCA Leopards players scored in double figures. KCCA Leopards' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Namyaalo Christine with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Penitah Nabakooza (163-2003) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. KCCA Leopards have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having just two point less than leader JKL Dolphins. Loser Nkumba LM stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. KCCA Leopards' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala UCU Ladies.
