Regular Season Round 7: KIU Rangers - JKL Dolphins 71-74

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-best KIU Rangers (7-2) to leader JKL Dolphins (8-0) 74-71 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KIU Rangers. JKL Dolphins forced 19 KIU Rangers turnovers and outrebounded them 62-47 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Hope Akello (183-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Brenda Ekone (152-1996) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four JKL Dolphins players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) who recorded 8 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Ines Kanyamunza added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. KIU Rangers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. JKL Dolphins have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-0 record. KIU Rangers at the other side keep the second position with two games lost.
