Regular Season Round 5: Miracle - KIU Rangers 52-75

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: KIU Rangers (#2) and Miracle (#7). Miracle was smashed at home by 23 points 52-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. KIU Rangers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Miracle's 26. KIU Rangers forced 23 Miracle turnovers and outrebounded them 64-33 including a 28-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Ines Kanyamunza contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five KIU Rangers players scored in double figures. Forward Barbara Namukaaya replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Brenda Nakitende (-1994) added 15 points in the effort for Miracle. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KIU Rangers maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader JKL Dolphins, which they share with UCU Ladies. Newly promoted Miracle keeps the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Nabisunsa and A1 Challenge.
