There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Division I. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Division I round 17 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader P.Luanda (14-2) against fourth ranked 1 De Agosto (13-3) 81-77 was the most important game of the last round. 1 De Agosto forced 24 P.Luanda turnovers. Eliseu Joao orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Tiago Fernandes contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. International forward Aboubacar Gakou (201-1997) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for P.Luanda. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. 1 De Agosto have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 13-3 record. Defending champion P.Luanda dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Interclube. P.Luanda will play next round against CPPL trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Luanda to the arena of CPPL. 1 De Agosto will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked P.Luanda. It will be extra interesting game as P.Luanda is their local rival from Luanda.

It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Luanda - P.Luanda. Interclube will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Sporting. It will be extra interesting game as Sporting is their local rival from Luanda.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Luanda: 1 De Agosto (#4) and Sporting L. (#5). Sporting L. was defeated at home 82-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Sporting L.. Eliseu Joao nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Helder Fernandes came up with 26 points for Sporting in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for 1 De Agosto. They maintain fourth place with 13-3 record. Newly promoted Sporting keeps the fifth position with three games lost. 1 De Agosto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Luanda to the arena P.Luanda.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Vila Clotilde B was beaten by Benguela on the road 99-91. Sporting L. B destroyed Interclube B on its own court 77-50. P.Luanda B unfortunately lost to CPPL in Luanda 92-103. ASA rolled over Kwanza at home 112-80. Akira was defeated by Interclube B on the opponent's court 80-65. Vila Clotilde B was beaten by Sporting L. B in a home game 42-46. Sporting lost to Interclube on the road 69-81. Vila Clotilde outscored Benguela on its own court 90-66. ASA rolled over Akira in Luanda 83-56. Bottom-ranked Kwanza was crushed by Vila Clotilde at home 81-120.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 29 points by Adao Antonio of Vila Clotilde.



Interclube - CPPL 94-84

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Interclube as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Interclube defeated 6th ranked CPPL in Luanda 94-84. Interclube had a 41-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international center Jonatao Ndjungu (203-1998) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Dominican point guard Raimer Mercedes (183-1997) chipped in 24 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Interclube's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Benguela - Vila Clotilde B 99-91

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Benguela (4-13) beat at home 11th ranked Vila Clotilde B (6-13) 99-91 on Sunday. Benguela forced 30 Vila Clotilde B turnovers. Point guard Pascoal Konde (186-2000) nailed 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Belmiro Roxo accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds. Antonio Rogerio came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Stelmar Cassule (-2006) added 23 points and 4 assists respectively for Vila Clotilde B in the defeat. Four Vila Clotilde B players scored in double figures. Vila Clotilde B's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Benguela maintains twelfth place with 4-13 record. Rather expected game when 10th ranked Interclube B (7-11) was smashed by seventh ranked Sporting L. B (9-8) in Luanda 77-50 on Saturday. Sporting L. B forced 26 Interclube B turnovers and had a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rene Kinguidi (-2005) nailed 5 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and forward Josue Bartolomeu (198-2000) accounted for 9 points and 5 rebounds. Luis Nunes came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Licinio Neto added 4 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals respectively for Interclube B in the defeat.
