Division I Round 12 (Regular Season): P.Luanda defeat CPPL

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of CPPL (9-1) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by P.Luanda (12-0) 104-70. P.Luanda held CPPL to an opponent 22.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.6 percent accuracy of the winners. P.Luanda had a 40-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by CPPL's players. It was a good game for international forward Aboubacar Gakou (201-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Glofate Buiamba (197-1999) contributed with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. point guard Fabio Antonio (172-2003) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds for CPPL. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated P.Luanda have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-0 record. CPPL at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Luanda. Fifth ranked CPPL (9-1) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 3rd ranked Interclube (11-2) 84-82 on Tuesday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Obed Kinkela who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Joao Oliveira who added 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Islando Manuel (192-1991) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. CPPL moved-up to fourth place. Interclube at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost.
Tenth-ranked Interclube B (3-8) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Vila Clotilde (7-6) on Tuesday. Vila Clotilde managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by Adao Antonio who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds. Vila Clotilde's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Luis Nunes did not help to save the game for Interclube B. Vila Clotilde maintains sixth position with 7-6 record, which they share with P.Luanda B. Loser Interclube B keeps the tenth place with eight games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: P.Luanda B smashed Kwanza on the road 122-71. Benguela was destroyed by Interclube on its own court 83-116. ASA unfortunately lost to CPPL in Luanda 79-86. Benguela managed to beat ASA at home 85-79.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 30 points and 4 steals by Pascoal Konde of Benguela.



Kwanza - P.Luanda B 71-122

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked P.Luanda B (7-6) crushed on the road 13th ranked Kwanza (2-11) 122-71 on Tuesday. P.Luanda B dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kwanza's 32. P.Luanda B forced 21 Kwanza turnovers and outrebounded them 59-34 including a 45-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. P.Luanda B shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Kwanza's players. The winners were led by point guard Antony Macaia who scored that evening 30 points and center Miguel Joaquim supported him with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five P.Luanda B players scored in double figures. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by point guard Danilson Jacinto did not help to save the game for Kwanza. Point guard Adilson Ramos (179-1989) added 11 points and 7 rebounds. P.Luanda B moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Vila Clotilde. Kwanza lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost.

Tenth-ranked Interclube B (3-8) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Vila Clotilde (7-6) on Tuesday. Vila Clotilde managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by Adao Antonio who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and Custodio Germano supported him with 13 points. Four Vila Clotilde players scored in double figures. Vila Clotilde's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Luis Nunes did not help to save the game for Interclube B. Pedro Gomes added 12 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Very expected game when 12th ranked Benguela (3-9) was smashed at home by third ranked Interclube (11-2) 116-83 on Wednesday. Interclube shot 24 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Benguela only scored eight points from the stripe. Interclube forced 26 Benguela turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Emanuel Sebastiao (190-2001) who scored that evening 23 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Wilson Ambrosio (199-1999) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Interclube players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds by Mario Mivanga did not help to save the game for Benguela. Genilson Lucombo added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Interclube moved-up to second place. Strangely ASA outrebounded CPPL 55-37 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Gideao Menayeme who scored that evening 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Fabio Antonio (172-2003) supported him with 18 points and 6 steals. Even 26 points and 8 rebounds by Elizeu Ventura did not help to save the game for ASA. Point guard Paulo Muanza added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four ASA players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CPPL moved-up to fourth place. Loser ASA keeps the ninth position with nine games lost.
