Akl comes back to Kocidar, ex Al Riyadi

GS Kocidar (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 31-year old Lebanese-Brazilian international point guard Rebecca Akl (170cm-1992) for season 2024-25. It is actually her comeback to Kocidar as she has played here before. She was best passer at Al Riyadi in Lebanese WLBL last season where in 22 games she recorded very impressive stats: 15.5ppg, 8.0rpg, 7.0apg and 2.7spg. She helped them to win the League title (seven times) despite they ended the regular season at the second place. A very spectacular season in her career as she was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and League Player of the Week (3 times). Akl also played for GS Kocidar. In 22 games she was league's fifth best scorer with remarkable 15.5ppg and had .
She represented Lebanon at the FIBA Asia Cup for Women in Sydney (Australia) last year. Her team won Bronze and she had 13 points per game.
Akl is quite experienced player. Thanks to her pro career she managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and Africa) in four different countries. She has played previously in Greece (Esperides, Chania and PAOK Thessaloniki), Spain (Leganes) and Czech Republic (Brno).
