GS Petroliers Win Title at inaugural 3x3 Arab Women Basketball Tournament- November 7, 2016Algerian women GS Petroliers Basketball club won the trophy of the first 3x3 Arab Women Basketball Championship, after beating Egypt's Sporting 14 - 13 in the final on Monday in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the Algerian club's second title after that of Arab Women Basketball Club Champion won in Jordan in late August. The GS Petroliers team, made up of the Basketball players Rachida Belaidi (79), Nesrine Taibi (187-F-88), Isli and Meray beat in the last sixteen the other Algerian representative in the tournament, OC Algiers. The second GS Petroliers team (Ikbal, Guerroumi, Madoui, Boushaki) ranked third after their 12-6 win over the UAE's Sharjah club. The tournament was organized by Sharjah Sports Council in collaboration with the Arab Basketball Association and the International Basketball Federation under the slogan "Above the Rim, We Score." Thirteen teams representing six countries, namely Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon, participated in this Arab tournament, The 3x3 matches are played with three players on each side and a fourth player as a reserve.
