Ivory Coast celebrate title in Kigali

Ivory Coast conquered the historic first ever AfroBasket U16 title. They overcame Cameroon in the title game in Kigali tonight. Ivory Coast eked out a 15-12 lead after ten minutes. Cameroon cut the deficit at 2-point mark at the big break 23-21. But Ivory Coast held their opponents to 9 points in the third term to stretch the gap at 8 points. They sank 24 points in the fourth period and raced to the historic success. Minty Oka (2009) stepped up with 18 points, while Irene Ouedraogo (2010) added 10 points and 20 rebounds for Ivory Coast. Nolan Ngangmeni (188-PG-2009) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds for Cameroon. Olivier Ngoumou (200-PF-2010) had 11 points and 11 caroms in the loss.

Egypt - Mali 51-58
Mali earned Bronze medals in Rwanda. They overcame Egypt in the consolation final today. Mali recorded a 29-23 halftime lead. Egypt bounced back with an 18-11 rally in the third term to eke out a narrow lead. But Mali went on an 18-10 run in the fourth term to ice the victory. Bakary Ballo and Idrissa Maiga (2009) posted 10 points each for Mali. Yahya Ammar (180-F-2009) replied with 16 points for Egypt.
