Wonder kid Ricardo Gomez Senkomane scored 35 points as Rwanda ran away with a dominant 142-48 win over Tanzania on Thursday, June 29, in the FIBA U16 Zone V African Basketball Championship qualifiers going on at Lycee de Kigali Gymnasium. It was the first win for the host nation's boys who returned to the court looking to quickly bounce back, having lost 56-59 to Uganda in Wednesday's opening game. Joseph Nshimiye and David Ganza added 25 and 19 points respectively, while Sean Williams contributed 16 points. In a post-game interview, Rwanda U16 team head coach, Patrick Habiyaremye heaped praise on his players. "The players performed well. We corrected the mistakes we made [in the first game] and we are going to prepare for the final game (against Burundi) on Friday," he said. In a separate interview starman Senkomane said, "We have been together from the beginning of the game, with guidance of the coaches from the sidelines. In general, we played a good game, this is our first victory and it motivates us to play hard for tomorrow's game". Rwanda will take on Burundi in the last game on Friday June 30 in boy's category.
