Algeria outscored Chad to gain 4-2 record in Cairo. Algeria posted a 23-18 halftime lead. Chad pulled within one point at the final break. Algeria however held on to the lead throughout the fourth quarter and secured the winning outcome. Zakariya Khodja (182-G-05) posted 14 points for the winners. Mbafe Abdel-Kerim (05) replied with 17 points for Chad.
Uganda - Ivory Coast 73-79
Ivory Coast recorded the second straight win in Cairo. They outlasted Uganda for 2-4 record. Uganda led by six points at the interval. But Ivory Coast poured in 45 points in the second half and snatched a narrow win. Pierre Bationo (191-SF-05) scored 20 points, while Hamad Bamba (179-G-05) accounted for 19 points for the winners. Clarence Mayengo (05) tossed in 25 points for Uganda.
Gabon - Egypt 64-123
Egypt dismantled Gabon for the fifth win in Cairo. Egypt piled up a 71-27 halftime advantage. They dropped 52 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Eight players scored in double digits for Egypt. Ahmed Abouelela (195-F-06) posted 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Hassan Amer (188-SF-05) added 17 points in the win. Darcy Makambo (180-G-06) responded with 28 points and 9 rebounds for Gabon.
Chad - Mali 61-90
Mali outgunned Chad in the semifinal rehearsal in Cairo. Mali led by just one point at the interval. But they stepped on the gas in the second half. Mali sank 57 points after the big break to rally to the win. Ibrahim Doumbia (06) posted 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Chouaybou Keita (06) added 15 points for the winners. Mbafe Abdel-Kerim responded with 24 points for Chad.
