Cape Verde - Egypt 43-76
Egypt bruised Cape Verde to gain the third straight win in Group A. Egypt registered a 22:4 lead after ten minutes. They stayed in charge throughout the next two periods and then burst out with a 25:7 run in the fourth quarter to ice the win. Ahmed Rehan (193-F-03) scored 23 points, while Omar Amer (178-PG-03) added 12 points for Egypt. Davide Buccilli (03) answered with 8 points for Cape Verde.
Algeria - Angola 53-73
Angola recorded the first win in Group A. They edged Algeria to gain 1-1 record. Fabio Antonio (172-PG-03) posted 20 points to lead the winners. Angola used a 29:14 run in the second term to take a 9-point halftime lead. Angola followed with a 20:10 run in the fourth term to claim the victory. Valdemar Avelino (176-SG-03) added 16 points for the winners. Marouane Yahya (185-SG-03) and Mohand Ammad (193-F-03) replied with 15 points each for Algeria.
Group B
Mali - Ivory Coast 65-57
Mali registered the second victory in Group B as they topped Ivory Coast. Brehima Traore (03) had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Mali. They went on a 24:11 run in second period to take a 10-point halftime lead. Ivory Coast pulled within 4 points at the final break. But Mali held them to 14 points in the fourth quarter to get away with the win. Abdramane Kanoute (04) had 13 points for Mali. Assemian Moulare (03) replied with 16 points for Ivory Coast.
Rwanda - Guinea 47-63
Guinea clinched the third straight victory in Group B. They rallied past Rwanda to remain undefeated. Alpha Kaba (186-G-04) tallied 16 points, while Thierno Sylla (208-C-03) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Kevin Ishema (03) answered with 17 points for Rwanda.
