Nigeria - Egypt 77-86
Egypt raced past Nigeria to record the first win at the tournament. Moamen Abouzeid (186-G-03) came up with 30 points to pace the winners. Nigeria grabbed a 21:13 lead after ten minutes. But Egypt struck back with a 54:34 run in the next two quarters to pull ahead for good. Abdullah Ahmed (205-C-03) had 10 points for the winners. Farouk Isah (180-SG-04) replied with 23 points for Nigeria.

Ivory Coast - Guinea 53-55
Guinea nipped Ivory Coast in the opener. Guinea posted a 29:17 halftime lead. Ivory Coast narrowed the gap in the second half but could not avoid the defeat. Thierno Sylla (208-C-03) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds for Guinea. Kabinet Kaba (198-F-03) added 10 points in the win. Assemian Moulare (03) replied with 19 points for Ivory Coast.
