Mali dethrone Egypt, celebrate title in Mauritius- July 22, 2017

Siriman Kanoute (01) provided 17 points and 9 assists to lead the champions. Mali secured a 22:19 lead after the first period. They extended the margin at 4-point mark at the big break. Mali went on a 21:15 run in the third term to boost the gap at 10-point mark. Mali kept Egypt at distance throughout the final period and drove to the trophy. Fousseyni Traore (02) had 15 points for the winners. Momen Hassan (01) responded with 22 points for Egypt. 3-4 PlaceAlgeria - Tunisia 57-54Algeria outscored Tunisia to claim the third position at the championship. Algeria limited their opponents to just 5 points in the first half to open a 33:5 halftime lead. Tunisia went on a strong rally in the second half but came up short of victory at the end. Ouail Gadaoui (01) and Nadir Hifi (02) netted 15 points each for the winners. Faiez Ghomrassi (01) and Ahmed Rebai (01) responded with 15 points each for Tunisia. 5-6 PlaceMadagascar - Rwanda 80-74Madagascar finished fifth in Mauritius. They toppled Rwanda on the final day of the tournament. Edito Tsarafeno (01) came up with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Rwanda eked out a 35:33 halftime lead. They extended the gap at 4-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. But Madagascar went on a 27:17 rally in the final period to secure the victory. Sitraka Raharimanantoanina (01) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Thierry Nkundwa (01) responded with 24 points for Rwanda. 7-8 PlaceMauritius - Mozambique 56-121Mozambique finished their campaign on a high note. They bruised hosting Mauritius to end up in the seventh position. Bryan Ricotso (02) notched 38 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Mozambique accumulated a 55:29 halftime lead. They sank 66 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Ndzengo Buvana (01) had 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. David Crudo (01) responded with 18 points for Mauritius. |
