Mali, Egypt, Tunis and Algeria advance into semifinal round in Mauritius- July 20, 2017
Group AMozambique - Mauritius 83-31Mozambique wrapped up preliminary round with victory. They cruised past Mauritius. Bryan Ricotso (02) netted 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the victory. Mozambique accumulated a 37:16 halftime lead. They followed with a 46:15 run in the second half to seal the win. Angelo Macie (01) scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the victory. Jean-Phil Wong (01) and Nevish Doorghen (02) answered with 8 points each for Mauritius. Mali - Tunisia 70-46 Mali outgunned Tunisia to ensure the sixth straight win at the tournament. Siriman Kanoute (01) provided 23 points to lead the winners. Mali dominated from start to finish. They secured a 45:22 halftime lead. Mali controlled the tempo in the second half and eased to the win. Adama Sanogo (02) chipped in 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the winners. Ahmed Rebai (01) responded with 12 points for Tunisia. Group BAlgeria - Rwanda 55-57Algeria advanced into the semifinal stage despite a narrow loss to Rwanda. Jean Umuhoza (01) provided 16 points to lead the winners. Ouail Gadaoui (01) responded with 15 points for Algeria. Rwanda trailed by 9 points at halftime 21:30. But they went on a strong 35:25 run in the second half to ice the win. Ziad Chenieff (01) provided 10 points and 14 rebounds for Algeria. Thierry Nkundwa (01) delivered 15 points and 16 rebounds for Rwanda. Madagascar - Egypt 75-98 Egypt hammered Madagascar to finish undefeated in Group B. Aly Khalifa (201-F-01) stepped up with 18 points and 8 boards for the winners. Madagascar led by one point at the first intermission 24:23. But Egypt drained 54 points in the second half and got away with an easy victory. Youssef Lehitta (01) had 15 points for the winners.
