BUZ NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS DRAW - Apr 15, 2019

Saturday the 13th of April saw the Draw for the BUZ National Basketball Championships take place. The draw was held in Bulawayo and was conducted by Mr Ignatius Yesaya, BUZ Competitions President. The draw covered the preliminary rounds that will be held in Harare for ZONE1 Qualifiers and in Bulawayo for ZONE2 qualifiers.

BUZ NC Draw
In ZONE1, The Harare Basketball Association will be represented by 8 Men's teams and 10 Women's teams. The Manicaland Basketball Association will be represented by 2 Men's teams and 1 Women's team. The Manicaland Basketball Association will be represented by 2 Men's. The MBA, has been allotted 2 automatic slots for the finals as the will host these in Mutare in 2 weeks time.

In ZONE2, The Bulawayo Basketball Association will have 5 Mens teams and 5 women's teams competing in the qualifiers. The Masvingo Basketball Association will have 1 representative for the men and 1 for the women. The Midlands Basketball Association contributes 4 Men's teams and 2 Women's teams.

The Top 6 teams from ZONE 1 and top 4 from ZONE 2 will Qualify for the finals in both the Men and the Women's categories. The Qualifiers start this weekend on the 19th of April 2019.

VITALIS CHIKOKO Levallois Metropolitans (Jeep ELITE ProA) landed 28-year old Zimbabwean ex-international power forward Vitalis Chikoko (208-91). He is the second foreign player in the roster as USA Rob Gray signed here earlier. Pau-Lacq-Orthez. In 36 Jeep ELITE ProA games in France he averaged impressive 15.1ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.8apg and 1.2bpg last season. The Harare basketball scene was abuzz this past weekend as an American collegiate basketball team visited and got involved in a number of activities including 4 friendly matches. Mercenaries and Hornets win National Titles - 1 month ago
Mercenaries Basketball Club and Harare City Hornets won the just ended Basketball Union of Zimbabwe National Championships held in Mutare over the past weekend. Mercenaries from Mutare won the Men's competition while Hornets won in the Women's categories. In the first final of the day, Hornets flew off to an early 15-6 lead in the 1st quarter en-route to an impressive 58-27 victory over a spirited Lakers team.
