Zimbabwe surprised Mozambique 71-57 in the opener of the 2023 FIBA AfroCan qualifiers. Zimbabwe dominated the majority of the game and closed it with a final 18-16 rally.
Vitalis Chikoko (208-F/C-1991) top-scored with 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Junior Mutongoza delivered 9 points, whilst Tatenda Muturure and Tatenda Tswatswa (1990) netted 8 each. Jeremias Mtamjate replied with 12 points in the losing effort.
