City Hornets HBA Champions again!

Harare CIty Hornets were on Sunday confirmed as the Harare Basketball Association (HBA) Men's A League 2018-19 Champions with three games to spare.City Hornets achieved this feat agter getting past Mufakose Hustlers 69-40 in Mufakose on Sunday whilst Raiders, who were closest title contenders, lost 108-91 to Foxes in an explosive encounter at Richwood on Saturday night. This became City Hornet's second HBA title moreover in only just three seasons in the elite league. Their maiden title triumph was in the 2016-17 season as they made their HBA debut. An elated City Hornets chairman Sani Mbofana told H-Metro that their ambition is not only to conquer the HBA and Zimbabwe, but the whole African Continent.

"We have this vision as a club to become the biggest basketball club in the country, SADC region and the continent. Our men were champions on their debut season and I think out vision is getting into shape. I will take this opportunity to thank more importantly the technical team and the players for putting the executive's thoughts on the ground and running with the vision."

Mbofana further extended City Hornets' gratitude to their main sponsor, the City of Harare, and other partners that are making them live their dream.

"I will also need to put on record my gratitude and sincere appreciation to our sponsors and thank my executive team for a job well done."

Still unbeaten in 19 games, City Hornets plan to end the season on a high and in emphatic fashion in the lead up to the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) National Championships.

"We still have 3 more games to go and it's our wish to create a piece of history of our won and wrap up the game without dropping a point and help ourselves start and prepare for the National Championships around the corner.
