Egypt posts the initial win in Maputo at the 2013 AfroBasket. They overcame Zimbabwe 85:55 in day 4 for 1-3 record. Zimbabwe meanwhile remained winless and dropped a 0-4 record.
Both teams entered the game winless. Egypt won the first period 20-14 and then added 22-11 run in the second period. Moreover Egypt posted a 22-13 run in the third quarter and reached 64:38 at the end of thirty minutes. They managed to win the last quarter 21-17 as well and celebrated a 30-point win.
Menatalla Awad (G-91) stepped up with 28 points and Aliaa Gamal (83) nailed 13. Shaza Abdelhakam (92), Dina Amr (172-G-93) and Hagar Amer (184-F-93) had 8 points each. Sharon Chamwarura (SG-93) answered with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a loss, whilst Dorcas Marondera (PF-90) had 12. Resina Chisale (171-G/F-82) produced 5 and Fadzai Mabasa (170-F/G-83) netted 3.
