The so-called womens decider between Stanbic Mavericks and JBC fizzled into a non-event with JBC stomping all over Stanbic 60-43. The score line does not do justice to the mismatch but then it could be JBC are not as invincible as they are supposed to. Varsity Leopards take note. We must give some props to the very out-manned Stanbic team and especially Mitchell Mutomba (14 points), Ellen Chikoto (15 points) and Dorcas Marondera who battled the JBC monster all day. Stanbic resurrected ex-Black Rhinos centre Albertina Gono to no avail. Her scoring average must have been below 10% as she threw brick after brick. But in fairness she was the only one brave enough to take the shots. Stanbics Dorcas Marondera who is normally a power forward had to play point when Mutomba ran out of steam after she had been chased by the JBC trap all day long. JBCs Alice Misihairabwi had a field day top-scoring with 23 points whilst Alice Mandivheya weighed in with 10 points. It was disappointing to watch these teams who were missing key players more so on the Stanbic side. Stanbic coach Spencer Nyamadzawo need to seriously think about a rebuilding process as his team just wont cut it.
