JBC from Zimbabwe could not qualify to Africa Basketball Club championships. Last night Ferroviario overcame JBC 105:41 in Zone Six women clubs championships. JBC, who lost their opening two matches against Angola's Agosto de Primeiro and Desportivo of Mozambique, needed to win yesterday's match to remain in contention for one of the two slots reserved for the group at the finals in Nigeria in October. The hosts easily started with 31:14 and never looked behind. They increased to 60:20 at the half after 29:6 in the second period. Another 25:17 in the third quarter was too much for the guests in the game. Ferroviario finished the game with defensive 20:4 and reached three digits number on the board. Machanguane Clarisse led the game with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Brown Alenra and Chongo Sheila chipped in 18 points each. Sibongile Mkandla (181-C-86) recorded 10 points and 4 rebounds while Chigumba Charity poured 9 points for JBC.
Ferroviario is placed first with 7 points followed by Desportivo with 6 points. Primeiro de Agosto is third with 5 points, JBC fourth with 3 points while Masculusso is place fifth 3 points. The last day will see Maculusso face JBC and Desportivo will meet Maculusso later in the day. JBC will complete their campaign with a tie against fellow strugglers in a battle for the wooden spoon.
