Tunisia crashes Zimbabwe for the second victory

Tunisia bounced back after a stunning loss to Senegal in previous round and outscored Zimbabwe on Day 5 of action in Algeria. The faced little obstacles on the way to their second win at the tournament yesterday. Tunisia grabbed an early lead 20:8. They continued to dominate on the court and outscored Zimbabwe 27:17 in the second quarter to establish a comfortable 47:25 advantage at halftime.
Zimbabwe tried to come back in the third quarter but was not able to limit Tinisia scoring ability and had to surrender 22 points. This meant Tunisia piled up an unassailable 69:44 gap entering the final stanza and eased to an overall win. Zimbabwe outscored them 27:23 in the fourth quarter but had to face the 5th straight loss at the tournament.
Mouna Kherifi topscored for Tunisia with 29 points. Fatma Barkallah added 20 points, 7 boards and 4 assists in a win. Fadzai Mabasa (170-G-83) had 16 points, while Helina Nyagato (169-G-81) scored 14 points for Zimbabwe. Sibongile Mkandla ripped down 17 rebounds in a losing effort.
Zimbabwe outrebounded the winners 47:32 but converted no three pointers and lacked accuracy from the charity stripe with 55%.
Tunisia improved to 2-3 record, while Zimbabwe remained at the bottom of the ladder with 0-5. The classification round is scheduled to start today.
