James Okello
Former international Power forward James Okello (194-PF-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked City Oilers, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, eight rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Ndejje Angels (#6, 11-11) 69-54. City Oilers is placed at 2nd position in Ugandan NBL. They are still close to the very top. City Oilers would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 17-4 record. Okello has many years of experience at City Oilers, through which he has constantly improved. James Okello has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 7.4rpg) and averages impressive 57.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old international center Ivan Lumanyika (205-C-92) of JKL Dolphins. Lumanyika had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Of course JKL Dolphins cruised to a 83-71 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked KIU Titans (#3, 17-5). JKL Dolphins' 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-11 record. Lumanyika is a newcomer at JKL Dolphins, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.4ppg (#5). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Felix Mukunzi (193-SF) of UPDF (#12). Mukunzi scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Mukunzi's great performance UPDF lost 72-82 to the higher-ranked UCU Canons (#5, 11-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. UPDF can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 5-17 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Mukunzi he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Mukunzi has individually a great season in Uganda. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.0ppg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Landry Ndikumana (198-F-95) of City Oilers - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Moses Muhumuza (C) of UPDF - 17 points and 2 rebounds
6. Makala Libe (F-95) of JKL Dolphins - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Fadhili Chuma (F-95) of UCU Canons - 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Jimmy Enabu (187-PG-88) of City Oilers - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Salim Kisily (F) of Ndejje Angels - 15 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
