NBL Round 15: Sharing Youth beats higher ranked UCU Canons - Aug 19, 2018

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game with biggest difference of round 15 was guest Sharing Youth's (9-12) road victory over 5th ranked UCU Canons (9-8) 65-54 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UCU Canons. Sharing Youth forced 25 UCU Canons turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by UCU Canons helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Emmanuel Okumu (-97) who scored 16 points. Guard Stephan Otoa (-88) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Tanzanian forward Fadhili Chuma (-95) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sharing Youth moved-up to seventh place. UCU Canons at the other side keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Sharing Youth are looking forward to face Ndejje Angels (#8) in the next round. UCU Canons will play against Our Saviour and are hoping to win this game.

American guard Brian Waters (188-85, college: Elon) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for KCCA Lions. KCCA Lions' coach Bernice Akunda tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. UPDF (5-16) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Charging Rhinos. KCCA Lions lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. UPDF will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. KCCA Lions will play against Ndejje Angels (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a great evening for Micheal Bwanga who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Salim Kisily with 16 points and 5 rebounds. KIU Titans have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with City Oilers. Loser Ndejje Angels keep the eighth position with ten games lost. KIU Titans will meet Our Saviour (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ndejje Angels will play against Sharing Youth and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best stats of 15th round was 10 points and 9 rebounds by M Buluma of Ndejje Angels.



UPDF - KCCA Lions 69-68

Bottom-ranked UPDF managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses. This time they edged tenth-ranked KCCA Lions 69-68. KCCA Lions were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Felix Mukunzi (193) who saved his team from a defeat with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Center Moses Muhumuza contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Brian Waters (188-85, college: Elon) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and forward Emmanuel Odongkara added 17 points in the effort for KCCA Lions. KCCA Lions' coach Bernice Akunda tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
