LANDRY NDIKUMANA

Burundian Forward Landry Ndikumana (198-F-95) put on an amazing game in the last round for City Oilers, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Sharing Youth (#7, 5-6) 68-63. City Oilers maintains the 3rd position in Ugandan NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. City Oilers will need more victories to improve their 8-3 record. In the team's last game Ndikumana had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at City Oilers, through which he has constantly improved. Landry Ndikumana has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 14.1ppg) and averages impressive 60.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another City Oilers' star - 25-year old international forward Jonathan Egau (190-F-93). Egau had a very good evening with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Of course together with Ndikumana he helped City Oilers with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Our Saviour (#5, 6-5) 76-53. City Oilers' 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 8-3 record is not bad at all. Egau is one of the most experienced players at City Oilers and similarly like Landry Ndikumana has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was ) of KCC Lions (#11). scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite 's great performance KCC Lions lost 64-77 to the higher-ranked Pemba Warriors (#4, 7-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. KCC Lions can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. has individually a great season in Uganda. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 5.8ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 2.5rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 2.8apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Caesar Kizito (F-88) of Sharing Youth - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Felix Mukunzi (193-F/G) of UPDF - 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Joseph Wacha (G-91) of Our Saviour - 20 points and 7 rebounds
7. Brian Waters (188-G-85) of KCC Lions - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Fadhili Chuma (F-95) of UCU Canons - 11 points and 12 rebounds
9. Mark Opiyo (G-90) of Pemba Warriors - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over. NBL Round 8: Betway Power edges KIU Titans by two points - 33 minutes ago
Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Fourth-ranked KIU Titans (8-4) made lots of trouble for first ranked Betway Power (12-1) on Friday. Betway Power managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65. However their fans expected easier game. Betway Power forced 21 KIU Titans turnovers. Strangely KIU Titans outrebounded Betway Power 42-0 including a 32- advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Geofrey Soro who had a double-double by scoring 19 points...   [read more]

Rwanda cool off rivals Uganda, move to 12-team Second Round of African Qualifiers - 15 days ago
Rwanda on Sunday ended Uganda's hopes of advancing to the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers. In a battle for the last spot available for Group B for the Last 12 of the competition, Rwanda came up too strong for their regional rivals. Paced by Kenneth Gasana, Rwanda saw off Uganda 92-79, and as a result, they become the only East African representative in the battle for a spot in next year's FIBA Basketball World Cup in China. Gasana finished with a g...   [read more]
