City Oilers managed to overcome KIU Titans in game three of the National Basketball League men's finals. The four time league champions won 52-46 in a low scoring game played at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo. The victory means that Oilers are now leading 3-0 in a best of seven final series, a win away from sealing their fifth straight League championship. Speaking after the game, Oilers Coach Mandy Juruni (169-PG) stated: 'This game has a lot of nerves as both teams were very poor offense wise. 'We had a good defense as we limited them to just 19 points in the first half.' Titans who were welcoming back Michael Bwanga who had been sidelined for the first two games due to illness, had a slow start. The Kansaga-based side were 16-9 down in the first half before falling 27-19 at halftime. However, Coach Brian Wathum 's halftime team might have played some magic as Titans came back a better side, edging the third quarter 10-15. With a 3 point difference into the last minutes, Oilers never looked like they were giving up on the fight, even when Stephen Omony (198-F-81) walked off after accumulating five personal fouls. With Titans struggling to pick rebounds and poor shooting ( converting 16 of the 66 field shots), Oilers held on to their lead and sealed off a 52-46 victory amidst boos from a sale out arena. Juruni added: 'At 3-0, we are in a great position though we can't rule out the fact that Titans have put up a spirited fight.'
