Center Philip Amenyi (C-89) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Pemba Warriors, receiving a Afrobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Falcons (#10, 3-8) with 20-point margin 78-58. It allowed Pemba Warriors to consolidate first place in the Ugandan NBL. Pemba Warriors has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 12-1. In the team's last game Amenyi had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Philip Amenyi averages this season 10.5ppg and 10.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Maker Deng (94) of Ndejje. Deng had a very good evening with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Ndejje to edge the lower-ranked JKL Dolphins (#9, 4-10) 81-75. Ndejje's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 8-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Deng is a newcomer at Ndejje, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.3ppg (#6). He also registered 9.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Pemba Warriors' star - forward Amisi Saidi (F-87). Saidi showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Pemba Warriors, helping his team with a 78-58 easy win against the lower-ranked Falcons (#10, 3-8). Many experts and fans count Pemba Warriors as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 12 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Saidi has a great season in Uganda. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.9rpg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ndikumana Landry (F-93) of City Oilers - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Baraka Mopele) of Sharing Youth - 22 points and 4 rebounds
6. Steven Mwesigye (F) of Our Saviour - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Emmanuel Okumu (F-97) of Sharing Youth - 12 points and 10 rebounds

10. Ferdinand Odama (158-F-95) of JKL Dolphins - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
