Tunisian men teams in African cups 2018-2019
 Africa Basketball League:

Michael Roll selected the top Tunisian playing abroad in last week's games - Dec 23, 2018

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Tunisians who are currently playing abroad.

Michael Roll
Michael Roll
#1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Maccabi T-A (4-10) in their last game. Despite Roll's good performance Maccabi T-A lost 73-80 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#7) Zalgiris. He scored 12 points in 20 minutes on the court. Roll's team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Roll has relatively good stats this year: 10.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 3.1apg, 2FGP: 53.4%, 3FGP: 38.5% in 13 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Roll is currently a member of the Tunisian senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Tunisia.

Salah Mejri
Salah Mejri
#2. Second place goes to an international center Salah Mejri (217-86, currently plays in NBA). Mejri was not able to help the Dallas Mavericks in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers (19-13) in the NBA. He scored 5 points and added 3 assists. The Dallas Mavericks (15-16) were defeated 125-121 in Los Angeles by the Clippers. This season Mejri averages: 2.1ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 72.7% and FT: 83.3%. He is in the roster of the Tunisian senior national team.

Omar Abada
Omar Abada
#3. The Tunisian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Omar Abada (189-93, currently plays in France). Abada led Saint Chamond to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Caen (2-9) 85-77 in the French ProB (second division) on Tuesday night. He was MVP of the game. Abada recorded 20 points and added 7 passes in 30 minutes. Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (7-4) is placed sixth in the ProB. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Abada's first year with the team. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.9ppg, 1.4rpg, 3.0apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 52.3%, 3FGP: 41.9% and FT: 85.0% in 10 games. Abada is also a member of the Tunisian senior national team.

Makram Ben Romdhane
Makram Ben Romdhane
#4. Power forward Makram Ben Romdhane (205-89, currently plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Omar Abada. But that was another game of his team in French ProB which we would like to mention. Ben Romdhane was not able to secure a victory for Saint Chamond (7-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Saint Chamond was defeated 89-77 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked Poitiers (#13). Ben Romdhane scored 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Ben Romdhane has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 10.2rpg, 3.9apg and 1.6spg. He is also Tunisian national team player.

Wassef Methnani
Wassef Methnani
#5. Former U19 international forward Wassef Methnani (203-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Fairfield University in a victory against the University of New Hampshire 63-57 in the NCAA last Saturday. Methnani scored 5 points in 14 minutes. The Fairfield University has conference record this season. This year Methnani's overall stats are: 5.7ppg and 2.8rpg in 11 games. He used to play for the Tunisian U19 national team three years ago.

Hamdi Karoui
Hamdi Karoui
#6. Forward Hamdi Karoui (201-93, college: E.Utah JC, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Hagen-Haspe (6-7) in their game against Hagen BG (9-4) in the German Regionalliga (fourth division). Karoui scored 5 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The eighth-placed Hagen-Haspe (6-7) was badly defeated 90-72 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Hagen BG (#5) in the West group. It's Karoui's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Karoui averages: 19.3ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.9spg. He is a former U19 international player as he played for the Tunisian team seven years ago.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Tunisian passport:

#1. Ahmed Salman led Isa Town to a victory over the closely-ranked Sitra (3-5) 99-92 in the Bahrain Premier League in Thursday night's game. Salman was the best player in that game. He scored 34 points (!!!), had 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 39 minutes. Isa Town (2-6) is placed tenth in the Premier League. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Salman has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 31.4ppg, 6.1rpg, 5.1apg and 1.5spg in eight games he played so far.

Other top Tunisian players, who play abroad:

Hamdi Braa (203-F/C-86) plays for Al Gezira in Egyptian Superleague
Ismail Chrigui (197-F-98) plays for Arkadia Lions in Austrian A Bundesliga
Yassin Debache (207-C-94) plays for Le Puy ASMB in French NM2
Sofian M'Rad (202-F/C-92) plays for WSG Koenigs in German Regionalliga
Fouhed Stiti (206-C-83) plays for Gardonne in French NM2
Sami Driss (190-G/F-82) plays for CTC Lyon in French NM2
