TOREY THOMAS

Defending champion Etoile Sportive Rades (Division I) agreed terms with 33-year old American point guard Torey Thomas (178-85kg-85, college: Holy Cross). He played last season at ADA Blois Basket 41 in French ProB. In 22 games he had 8.7ppg, 3.2rpg, 4.3apg and 1.6spg. Thomas helped them to win the ProB title. Quite impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Honorable Mention.
The previous (16-17) season he played at AEK Larnaca (Division A) in league where in 27 games he recorded 10.2ppg, 5.6rpg, 4.9apg and 1.7spg. Thomas contributed to his team winning the Supercup and make to league final. It was another spectacular season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Cyprus League 2nd Team and League Player of the Week. Thomas also played 6 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 13.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.2apg (top 2) and 3.0spg (in top 4). The other team Thomas played shortly was MZT Skopje in FYR Macedonian league. In three ABA League games he got 3.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 4.0apg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Thomas was voted Eurobasket.com All-Dutch Eredivisie Defensive Player of the Year back in 2009.
He is quite experienced player. Thomas' career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in eleven different countries. Thomas tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Dominican Rep., Greece (Aris), Italy, Poland (Rosa), Russia (Spartak Primorie Vladivostok), Serbia, Sweden, Turkey (Erdemir and Aliaga), Venezuela and Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago).
Thomas attended College of Holy Cross until 2007 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
On Thomas: Offense: A true 'pass-first' point guard. Unselfish player. Makes everyone else better. Outstanding handle. Can get in the lane and distribute. One of the quickest guards in the nation from foul line to foul line. Outstanding physical condition, Strong, well-built (NFL football-like). Will raise the bar for any team with his condition.
Defense: Absolute 'lockdown' defender, Tough, Very quick, one of the best on-the-ball defenders in the country. Slides feet well, Intense, very competitive. Has a nose for the ball, Rebounds extremely well for size, almost 5 per game. With his combination of strength, speed, toughness and endurance, can guard anyone man-to-man full-court
