NY Knicks add Hukporti to their roster

Ariel Hukporti

The New York Knicks added 22-year-old German-Togolese center Ariel Hukporti (7'0''-229lbs-2002) to their roster. He is the second foreign player on the team, with British O.G. Anunoby signing earlier. Hukporti played last season with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the German BBL league, averaging 5.0ppg, 6.3rpg, and 1.0bpg in three games. He also played one game in the Basketball Champions League, where he averaged 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block. Hukporti briefly played for United in the Australian NBL and EnBW Ludwigsburg in the BBL.
This summer he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round (58th overall).
He represented Germany at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U18 in Greece five years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 10.1 ppg and had 6.4 rpg.
Hukporti has also played professionally in Australia and Lithuania (Nevezis). He played in the final of the Australian NBL in 2024.
He received multiple awards, including being named to the Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Valencia All-Tournament Team and Eurobasket.com All-German NBBL Rookie of the Year in 2019.
