FIBA Africa Zone-3 Qualifier: Benin lost to Togo 63-68

It was another uneventful day for Benin Republic in Day-3 of the FIBA Africa Zone-3 elimination series in Lome, Togo as they lost their third straight game to host Togo by 63-68 points to remain at the bottom of the standing.
Benin who could only manage a third quarter win of 20-16 points lost the other three quarters to Togo who were determined to book a place in next year Afrobasket and All Africa Games.
The Togolese won the first, second and fourth quarters by 21-18; 16-12 and 15-13 points respectively to remain a top contender for the top spot of the qualifying series which is currently being led by Nigeria with Cote dIvoire in second place.
Togo inspirational guard Jimmy Williams led his team with 16 points and rebounds, Komi Kouigan scored 14 points, Mauctar Diaby recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds with Abdouf-Fatarh Damatare adding 10 points for Togo win.
Benin Republic captain Romaric Ouenun led the floor with 21 points and 6 rebounds, Leonce Chadare grabbed a double double effort of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Roland Akpatchi added 14 points.
Friday is rest day for the four participating countries as hostilities is expected to resume on Saturday with Nigeria taking on Benin at 17H00 and Cote dIvoire battling it out against Togo at 19H00 in the reverse fixtures.
