Oilers could not deny the deficit in the second period. Savio rallied to a 30:26 advantage at the interval. Savio deepened the damage in the third quarter. They outgunned their opponents to post a 12-point lead at the final break. Savio stayed in control in the fourth term. They limited Oilers to just 10 points and recorded a confident 63:44 victory at the end. Mohamed Yusuph knocked down 21 points to lead the effort. Paschal Nsana added 15 points for Savio. Dominic Zakaria responded with 19 points for Oilers. Lusajo Samuel (183-F-83) delivered 8 points in the loss. Savio is NBL champion - Apr 18, 2010 Savio were yesterday crowned National Basketball League (NBL) champions after winning their epic final matches at the National Indoor Stadium. Savio posted a comfortable 63-54 win over JKT in the mens final encounter at the same venue. In the mens encounter Savio who looked likely to win the encounter from the start handed JKT their second defeat to win their second title. They are also RBA champions after beating JKT at the same venue two months ago. Savio began the match with a high note to lead 27-12 in the first quarter before JKT narrowed the gap with 32-27 at the first half. They added 31 more points in the second half while restricting JKT to 27 point gain at the period. |
