Perth Wildcats (NBL) have signed 31-year-old South Sudanese-Australian international 213cm center Lual Acuil (college: Baylor) for the new season. He was the second-best scorer at Al Ittihad Alexandria in the Egyptian Superleague. Acuil played in three leagues in two countries last year. He also played for Manisa in the Turkish BSL, where he averaged an impressive 17.1ppg, 7.0rpg, and 1.0bpg in 21 games and was voted League Player of the Week twice. Acuil also played 6 games in the Basketball Champions League, with stats of 16.5ppg, 8.2rpg, and 1.2spg. He briefly played for Flying Leopards (CBA) in the Chinese league. Acuil has been regularly called up to the South Sudanese Senior National Team since 2022.
Acuil is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in eight different countries playing on five different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Australian, African and of course North American leagues. Acuil has played professionally in China (Monkey Kings), Hungary (Atomeromu), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem and Galil Elion), Lebanon (Dynamo), Turkey, Australia (United and Sabres), Libya (Ahly Benghazi) and NBA Summer League (Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings). His team made it to the Basketball Africa League Semifinals in 2025.
Among many awards he received, he won the Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Player of the Year award and the Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2024.
He graduated from Baylor University in 2018 and it'll be his eighth season in pro basketball. Acuil played also for Neosho County Community College for 2 years.
