Ningbo Rockets (CBA) landed 31-year old Australian-South Sudanese 208cm center Mangok Mathiang (college: Louisville) for new season. He was top rebounder at M.Ramat Gan in Israeli Winner League last season where in 11 games he averaged 10.2ppg and 10.9rpg. He also played for Breakers (NBL) in Australia.
Mathiang was also a member of the Australian international program for some years. He played for Australian Senior National Team back in 2019 and previously for the Under 22 National Team in 2015.
Mathiang represented Australia at the FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers five years ago. During this event he scored an average of 6 points per game and had 4 rebounds per game.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in seven different countries playing on three different continents. Mathiang is familiar with European, Australian and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Hawks and Cavaliers), Israel (Hapoel Eilat), Italy (Cremona), Slovenia (Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana), Turkey (Bahcesehir), NBA (Charlotte Hornets) and NBA G League (Greensboro Swarm).
Among many awards his team won Italian Cup in 2019. Mathiang was voted to Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Honorable Mention back in 2020.
He graduated from University of Louisville in 2017 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
