Liaoning Flying Leopards (CBA) agreed terms with 29-year old South Sudanese-Canadian international small forward Marial Shayok (196cm-91kg-1995, college: Iowa State, agency: Diamond Sports) for the new 2024-25 season. He was the second-best scorer on Shandong Heroes last season, with very impressive stats: 19.1ppg, 4.5rpg, 3.6apg, and 1.2spg in 47 CBA games in China. He had a great season and was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention and All-Imports Team. During the previous (2022-23) season, he played for the Celtics in the NBA G League.
In 2019, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in the second round (54th overall). He graduated from Iowa State, and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
Shayok also represented South Sudan at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) this year. During this event he scored an average of 14.7 ppg and had 3.7 rpg.
He is quite an experienced player. Shayok has played professionally in Turkey (Fenerbahce and Bursaspor), the NBA G League (Delaware Blue Coats), and the NBA Summer League (Minnesota Timberwolves).
His college team won the Big 12 Tournament in 2019. He played for The University of Virginia for 3 years.
