Serbia earned the second victory at the 2024 Olympic Games. They outgunned South Sudan to clinch the second place in Group C. South Sudan finished third but lost the tiebreaker to Greece and got eliminated from the tournament. Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-SG-1992) and Nikola Jokic (212-C-1995) combined for impressive 52 points to pace Serbia to the win. Serbia eked out a 23-22 lead after ten minutes. They maintained the lead throughout the second stanza. The European team established 47-44 halftime advantage. Serbia stayed red hot offensively in the second half. They knocked down 25 points in the third frame to open a 5-point lead at the final break. Serbia kept South Sudan scoreless for more than 4 minutes in the fourth period to boost the lead to as many as 17 points and cruised to the win. Vasilije Micic (194-PG-1994) provided 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Carlik Jones (185-PG-1997, college: Louisville) and Shayok Marial (196-SF-1995, college: Iowa St., agency: Diamond Sports) posted 17 points apiece for South Sudan. |
