Basketball Club Batumi (Superleague) has signed Makol Mawien, a 27-year-old South Sudanese power forward. Mawien, who stands at 206cm and weighs 98kg, played for Xezri in the Azerbaijani ABL league. He has also played for Mornar in the Montenegrin league and participated in 3 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, averaging 4.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game.
He's a highly experienced player, having played in seven countries across three continents - Europe, Asia, and North America. He has previously played professionally for Levski and Chernomorets in Bulgaria, Kipina in Finland, Rahoveci in Kosovo, teams in Montenegro, Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Zaporizhye in Ukraine.
In 2023, he played in the final of the Bulgarian League and received the Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Honorable Mention award.
He graduated from Kansas State in 2020 and is now in his fourth season as a pro player. He also played for other colleges such as New Mexico Junior College and the University of Utah.
