Xezri tabs Makol Mawien

Makol Mawien

The newly promoted Xezri Basketbol Komandasi (ABL) has signed Makol Mawien, a 27-year-old power forward from South Sudan. Mawien, who stands at 206cm, previously played for Mornar in the Montenegrin Erste Liga, where he averaged 4.7ppg, 6.3rpg, and 1.0bpg in three games. He also played four games in the ABA League, recording 4.3ppg and 2.8rpg. Last season, Mawien played for Chernomorets in the Bulgarian league.
He's a highly experienced player who has traveled extensively throughout his professional career, playing in six different countries across Europe, Asia, and North America. He has previously played for Levski in Bulgaria, Kipina in Finland, Rahoveci in Kosovo, Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Zaporizhye in Ukraine. In 2023, he reached the final of the Bulgarian League and was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Honorable Mention team.
He graduated from the University of Kansas State in 2020, and this is his fourth season in professional basketball. He also played for other colleges such as New Mexico Junior College and the University of Utah.
