South Sudan - Venezuela 80-61

South Sudan claimed the first win at the friendly tournament in Melbourne. They overcame Venezuela tonight. Carlik Jones (185-PG-1997, college: Louisville) stepped up with 14 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the African team.
South Sudan posted a 17-12 lead after ten minutes. The African team maintained the lead throughout the second stanza. They established a 30-24 halftime advantage. South Sudan poured in 22 points in the third quarter to gain a 9-point advantage. South Sudan did not loosen the grasp in the fourth period and rallied to the victory. Marial Shayok (196-SF-1995, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 13 points in the win. Nestor Colmenares (200-C-1987, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) answered with 19 points for Venezuela.
