South Sudan registered initial win at the FIBA AfroCan Zone 5 Qualifiers beating Eritrea 80-32. They started the game with a 19-11 run and never looked behind after. Aluk Adub (198-PF-1987, college: FMU) top-scored for the winners with 15 points and Ruai Yar had 13. Joshua Garang (2002) delivered 12, whilst Ajak Garang netted 10. Zekarias Aron (1994) replied with 10 points in the losing effort.
