Ater Majok
Homenetmen Beirut (Pepsi LBL) landed 29-year old South Sudanese center Ater Majok (208-106kg-87, college: Connecticut). He moved there from Beijing Dongfang in Chinese NBL league where he started the season. In 25 games he averaged impressive 26.9ppg, 17.2rpg (#2 in the league), 2.4apg and 3.9bpg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was awarded All-Chinese NBL Defensive Player of the Year, Center of the Year and selected to 1st Team. The last season Majok played at Trefl in Polish TBL. In 27 games he had 9.8ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.8bpg. He can count that season as a very successful as was selected to All-Polish League Honorable Mention.
In 2011 (a year after he left the college) Majok was drafted by Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) in second round (58th overall). He attended University of Connecticut until 2010 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Majok won German 2.Bundesliga Pro A championship title in 2014.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball Majok experienced life in nine different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Majok has played previously professionally in Belarus (Tsmoki-Minsk), Israel (Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv), Korea (KCC Egis), Slovakia (Nitra), Taiwan (Taiwan Beer), Turkey, NBA (LA Lakers), Germany (BG Goettingen) and D-League (Los Angeles D-Fenders).
Let's have closer look into His outlook: (by Rodney Halprin for in 2011)
He is comfortable using both hands and shows good timing when going after shots ... He alters numerous plays and has the capacity to be a formidable post and help defender ... Desite his slight frame, he isn't afraid of physical play, hustles hard and will get after loose balls. He is active on the offensive boards and finds his man on the defensive end, however due to mainly his lack of strength in the past, he has not been a dominant rebounder up to this point ... He has also had some difficulties with foul trouble playing the 4/5 spot
