Algeria overcame Somalia in Day 1 of the Arab Basketball Championship. They posted an 80-75 win due to a strong first half.
Algeria started with a 19-15 run and led 6 points at the halftime. Moreover, they added a 23-22 rally in the second period, whilst Somalia replied with a final 19-17 rally. Group A is made up of Libya, Mauritania, Algeria and Somalia. Sayed Ben Zaim finished with 18 points for the winners.
