If all the chosen players make it to Dar es Salaam for the Zone V African Basketball Championship-qualifiers, coach Cumar Barajab may has a good chance to surprise some of the teams that are participating in this event next week.

Faisal Aden (193-G-89, college: Washington St.), who recently played in the D-League after finishing up his college basketball-career at Washington State, should be the go-to-guy on Somalia's roster.
Others like Osman Olol (205-F-88) (Coppin State and currently in Canada at St. Mary's), Abdi Faras (203) (Barstow Community College) or Munye Sufi (Ohio State-Marion) played college-ball in the US and with the addition of Netherlands-based Hoessein Addow (205-F-70, agency: R.H.Consultancy), the team does not lack height at all in the paint. The most experienced player is certainly Yusuf Qaafow (190-G-87), who played several seasons in the NBL, Australia's highest basketball level. Seattle-based Tabid Mohamed, the Canadian-trio of Osman Mohamed, Liban Hassan and Husein Mahdi rounding up the picture.
