Ansu Sesay , a diamond from Sierra Leone- October 27, 2005Sometimes , it’s good to dig deep in order to find something special. In my case, I found out today, that Ansu Sesay (206-C/F-76, college: Mississippi), the proven NBA-pro , who played several seasons with the Mavericks, Sonics and Warriors, has Sierra Leonian roots, his parents are both from Sierra Leone, which could have made him available to play for the country of his parents, but Sesay already played in the US national team at the World University Games in 1997. Still ,its great to see, that even such a small and financially poor country has some standouts that made it to the NBA. Hopefully, more players succeed from the country of the diamonds in order to rebuild a country that has experienced such a painful experience within the last decades during the war. |
