Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut was stronger than As Seeb 105:59 in the first game of 21st Arab Clubs Championship. The team from Lebanon together with Alpha Bangura (197-F/G-80, college: St.John's) controlled the whole game, but As Seeb could be proud of the second quarter. They stun the favorites to close the gap to 46:30. Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut was led by Alpha Bangura who scored 20 points. Sabah Khoury nailed 18, whilst Micah Brand had 17. Neslon N'Gao top-scored in the losing side with 16 points.
Alpha Bangura and his Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut lost the second game to Kuwait 97:92. Trailing 11 points after the first quarter Al Kuwait SC produced a good second half to benefit from the game. Andre Pitts led the winners with 25 points. Ira Clark scored 23 points and made 12 board, while Ahmad Al Mutairi posted 17. Alpha Bangura shined in the losing effort with 35 points. As there were three teams in the group Al Kuwait SC top it with 2-0 record. Al Kuwait SC did not look fresh enough in the opening tip of the game and had to follow Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut. The latter controlled the quarter and had 26:15 after the first period. They left the court for the big break in front having 53:49 advantage.
Al Kuwait SC woke up fully in the third quarter and grabbed 76:69 after the end of it. The last quarter was a good one to see and Al Kuwait SC led the game to the win. After the end of the Group D Al Kuwait SC advanced to Group F where it will play with An Nasr, Al Nasr and Orthodox. Group E will have Zain, Maghreb de Fes, Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut and Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut.
