Jimmy Williams
Afrobasket-Jimmy did it fill to bounce back from Indian Ocean championship and to lead beau vallon heat to the league title .
Jimmy Williams - We beat a good premium cobra team in the finals in best of 5 games . It was a good achievement because premium cobra beat us two times in the Indian Ocean championship , we couldn't stop there inside play with the addition of the best local player in the country international center Abdel Kader Sylla (205-90), who recently signed in France pro b he gave them size and length, and leadership which gave confidence to the other players. After Indian Ocean tournament team president wanted me to sign for the full year and finish season with the club, after a few months we started to build chemistry and that really made it easy for us to play well playoff time and win the cup.
Afrobasket- jimmy you was the best scorer in the zone 7 African club qualifiers (25.2ppg) and a tournament high of 40 points against premium Cobra. From watching you play you have floor game good three point shooter and can get to basket what is your secrets to scoring? Most leagues you played in you was top 5 in scoring.
Jimmy Williams - From having experience now I pick my spots on the floor I know which spot on the floor I shoot a higher percentage at, it's all about making the game easier finding easier ways to score out of the offense....
Afrobasket - you have been playing in Africa for a few years now how do you find basketball in Africa .
Jimmy Williams- Basketball in Africa is growing every year, for example countries like Nigeria, Angola , Ivory Coast, Egypt , Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Mozambique, Algeria are most well know in Africa this the ones I can think of off the top of my head , but least we'll known countries like Ungonda, Kenya , Congo , Rwanda, Cape Verde, Gabon, are improving year by year and can now compete with top nationals teams and clubs in Africa. Which makes the region more competitive. Afro-league gives players of smaller clubs in Africa to showcase there talent on a national level. There are always room for improvement, but the direction it's going in , within next couple of years you will see more African players in nba.
Afrobasket- Basketball in Africa is very physical how did you have to adjust your game while playing in Africa ?
Jimmy Williams - of course I had to adjust and get use to the physical style of play. So of course when I play I know what to expect there is more body to body contact and that what forces me to make more difficult shots .
Afrobasket- Do you play to play with Togo national team any time soon, since you hold two pass ports .
Jimmy Williams - As of now from what I know the federation plans on playing soon but now looking for funding for future projects,So I will wait and see.
Afrobasket- Any last words want to say ?
Jimmy Williams - looking forward to bigs things thank you for the interview.
