With a second defeat in three games, the Seychelles mens basketball team have finished third in the four-team standings of the ongoing zone 6 qualifiers for the 27th mens African Basketball Nations Championship (AfroBasket) 2013.
On Wednesday night in Maputo, Seychelles lost by a 32-point margin 39-71 against hosts Mozambique to finish the league phase with just one win and two defeats in three games.
The teams only win came against Botswana on a 71-68 score in their second game after they were beaten 52-76 by Zambia in their opening game on Monday.
In todays semifinal, Seychelles will be looking to avenge the league loss to Zambia to earn a place in tomorrows final.
Zambia finished second in the standings after thumping winless Botswana 86-40 in their third match on Wednesday.
Todays other semifinal is between group winners Mozambique and Botswana, whom they pummeled 105-19 on the opening day of the tournament.
The two losing semifinalists will meet in the third place play-off match tomorrow and the final between the winners of the two last-four encounters is also scheduled for tomorrow.
The winners of the tournament will qualify for the Afro-Basket 2013 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from August 20-31.
