THEY clashed a fortnight ago in the Charity match and the winners were decided in the dying seconds when veteran Simone Malbrook scored the game's last two free-throws for the 44-42 win.
Anse Etoile Stars and HotShots will clash in the women's Jhelum Cup finalAnse Etoile Stars and HotShots will match up again on Saturday March 29 in the final of the Women's Jhelum Cup (formerly Curtain-raiser tournament). The two sides qualified for the final of the Jhelum-sponsored tournament with wins over the weekend in the semifinals played at the Palais des Sports.
HotShots were the first of the two teams to book their place in the final last Saturday. Trailing by two points 15-17 at half-time after having lost the first quarters 8-13 before winning the second 10-minute spell 7-4, defending champions HotShots upped the tempo in the second period, winning the next two quarters 20-3 and 13-10 for a 48-30 victory over RA Sisters.
Coach Philip Arrisol had centre Tina Agathine (16 points) and power forward Myra Solin (14 points) combining for 30 of their team's points and their total equalled RA Sisters' tally.
Sylvie Port-Louis led RA Sisters in scoring 8 points.
On Sunday, Anse Etoile Stars rested Simone Malbrook, but her husband Michel Malbrook was on the team's bench to guide the defending League champions to victory against their daughter - Jana Malbrook - and the rest of the Cadettes team.
Interestingly enough, Cadettes, who are preparing for the forthcoming sixth edition of the Jeux de la Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l'Ocean indien (CJSOI), scored 28 points against the Stars who got 69.
Jessica Fanchette had 12 points for Cadettes, while the Stars had three players - Zita Simeon (16 points), Georgia Desir (14 points) and Dynah Louis (12 points) - scoring in double figures.
