Senegal trounced Nigeria in Luanda tonight to seal their AfroBasket semifinal appearance. Brancou Badio (191-G-1999) stepped up with 32 points to pace the winners.
Nigeria eked out a 24-23 lead after ten minutes of action. But Senegal shifted the gear in the second quarter. They unleashed 30 points in the period to gain a comfortable 53-42 halftime advantage. Senegal extended the margin at 21-point mark at the final intermission. Nigeria tried to come back into the game in the fourth period but could not threaten the gap as Senegal cruised to the win. Jean-Jacques Boissy (183-PG-2000) chipped in 21 points for the winners. Ike Nwamu (193-G-1993, college: UNLV) responded with 15 points, while Stan Okoye (198-SF-1991, college: VMI) tossed in 14 points for Nigeria.
