Maurice Ndour's double-double lands him Player of the Week award among Senegalese players playing currently abroad: - May 11, 2019

We bring you last week's top performances from Senegalese players who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Maurice Ndour (206-92, college: Ohio, currently plays in VTB United League). He led his Russian team Unics Kazan to a victory over the seventh-ranked Kalev/Cramo (14-12) crushing them 108-84 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. Ndour was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court. Unics Kazan (21-5) is placed second in the VTB United League. Ndour has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.1apg, 1.2bpg, 2FGP: 56.5%(83-147) and FT: 75.9% in 19 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Moussa Diagne

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to Andorra's victory against the closely-ranked La ICL Manresa (16-15) 77-64 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Friday. Diagne recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. MoraBanc Andorra (16-16) is placed ninth in the Liga Endesa. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Diagne averages: 8.1ppg, 6.1rpg, 2FGP: 58.1%(72-124) and FT: 73.8%. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish. Worth to mention Diagne played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Diagne played for the Senegalese national team in 2016.

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU, currently plays in Serbia). He contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked FMP (3-1) 82-65 in a derby game in the Serbian KLS on Saturday night. Faye scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group A. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (4-0) is placed first. So far his team won all four games in the Second Stage. This year Faye's overall stats are: 5.3ppg, 3.7rpg in three games. He is also a member of the Senegalese senior national team.

Point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, agency: BeoBasket, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Gran Canaria's victory against the closely-ranked Blusens Monbus (11-20) 96-82 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Thursday night's game. Hannah recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and making 11 passes. Herbalife Gran Canaria (12-20) is placed 12th in the Liga Endesa. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Hannah has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 1.7rpg and 4.4apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and American. Hannah used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2017.

   #5. Former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France) could not help SIG Strasbourg (18-14) in their last game. Despite his good performance SIG Strasbourg was crushed 85-61 on the road by the lower-ranked (#9) ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. Fall recorded 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 20 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Fall has reliable stats this year: 14.6ppg, 8.7rpg and 1.5bpg in 28 games. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team seven years ago.

Center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) helped Twarde Pierniki win their game against the seventh-ranked Wilki Morskie (15-15) 95-90 in the Polish EBL on Wednesday night. Mbodj scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Polski Cukier Torun (24-6) is placed second in the EBL. Mbodj's stats this season are: 11.3ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.1apg and 1.7bpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

Toure was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 11 rebounds. Toure also added 4 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. Fribourg Olympic (5-0) is placed first. So far his team won all five games in the Quarter-Finals. Toure has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 9.4rpg, 2.1apg, 1.3bpg and 1.1spg. Toure plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

Former international power forward Ibrahima Faye (207-97, currently plays in Belgium) was the major contributor in a Leuven Bears' victory against the fourth-ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (20-13) 90-83 in the Belgian Euromillions League in Thursday night's game. Faye recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 blocks. Stella Artois Leuven Bears (10-23) is placed second from the bottom (#9) in the Euromillions League. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Faye averaged so far 11.8ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.4bpg. He used to play for the Senegalese national team three years ago.

Power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to help Massagno in their game against Monthey (2-3) in the Swiss SBL, despite his very good performance last Wednesday. Aw had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 36 minutes. But the third-placed Massagno (4-4) lost 77-85 at home to the lower-ranked (#4) Monthey in the Places 1-6 group. Aw has very impressive stats this year: 18.7ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.6apg and 1.8spg in 20 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

   #11. Former U18 international power forward Cheikh Sane (207-92, college: Marshall, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to secure a victory for Horsens IC in their game against Bakken in the Danish BasketLigaen. He scored 6 points, grabbed 6 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 2 shots. His team was defeated 83-76. Sane's total stats this season are: 5.9ppg, 6.4rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team eleven years ago.

   #12. Former international forward Antoine Mendy (198-83, currently plays in France) helped Lille Metropole win their game against the 15th-ranked Denain Voltaire 85-75 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Mendy scored 18 points. His total stats this season are: 7.8ppg and 3.1rpg. Mendy used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2017.

   #13. U18 international center Biram Faye (206-0, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Fontedoso Carrefour in their game against L'Hospitalet in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division), despite his very good performance last Saturday. He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Faye also added 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. But his team lost 75-82. He averaged so far 11.2ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.5bpg in 33 games. Faye is also Senegalese U18 national team player.

   #14. International center Moise Diame (206-86, currently plays in France) helped Saint Vallier win their game against the tenth-ranked La Charite crushing them 98-70 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 12 points and added 3 assists. Diame averaged so far 11.1ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #15. Former U18 international power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in Romania) couldn't help CS Dinamo Bucuresti in their game against Sibiu in the Romanian Liga Nationala. Barro recorded 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 84-65. He averaged so far 12.8ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg in 17 games. Barro used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team seventeen years ago.

   #1. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria in a victory against the league outsider Gipuzkoa (9-21) 87-77 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Thursday night. He recorded only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria (25-6) is placed second in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. It's Diop's sixth season with the team. This year Diop's total stats are: 5.4ppg and 3.3rpg in 32 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish.

   #2. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in Denmark) contributed to Bakken's victory against the seventh-ranked Horsens IC (3-11) 83-76 in the Danish BasketLigaen on Monday night. Diouf scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Bakken Bears (22-2) is placed first in ProA group. It's Diouf's fourth season with the team. His total stats this year are: 10.0ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.3apg.

   #3. Mouhamed Barro (205-F-95, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Ilimane Diop in the Spanish Liga Endesa last game. Barro. He could not help Gipuzkoa (9-21) to beat Baskonia (25-6). Barro recorded 8 points in 17 minutes. The bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa lost 77-87 at home to the second-ranked Baskonia. It was Gipuzkoa's first loss after three consecutive victories. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Barro's total stats are: 4.3ppg and 2.1rpg in 24 games.

   #4. Malik Dime (206-F/C-92, college: Washington, currently plays in Bulgaria) was not able to help Rilski in their game against Levski Lukoil (22-2) in the Bulgarian NBL. Dime scored only 4 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 22 minutes. Rilski lost 77-85 on the road to the leading Levski Lukoil. It's Dime's first season with the team. He averaged so far 13.3ppg, 8.6rpg and 2.4bpg in 19 games. Dime is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and American.

   #5. Experienced Mamadou Dia (201-C/F-78, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Provence Basket (9-23) in their game against Le Mans (10-22) in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. He recorded only 4 points. Provence Basket was badly defeated 88-68 in Le Mans by the higher-ranked Le Mans (#15). It was Provence Basket's fourth consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. It's Dia's 13th season with the team. Dia's total stats this year are: 3.7ppg and 1.4rpg. He has both Senegalese and French nationalities.

   #6. Atoumane Diagne (215-C-98, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Barca II in their game against RETAbet BB in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Diagne recorded 6 points in 15 minutes. His team lost 76-84. This year Diagne's total stats are: 6.9ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.7bpg in 34 games.

   #7. Fall El Hadji (210-C-92, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Moron (16-18) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Moron (#8) was crushed 88-64 on their home court in MorĂ³n de la Frontera by the lower-ranked Gijon (#9) in the East group. El Hadji was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 8 rebounds. El Hadji's total stats this season are: 7.3ppg and 6.1rpg. He also holds two passports: Senegalese and Spanish. Despite El Hadji's Senegalese nationality, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #8. Serigne Ndiaye (204-C-98, currently plays in Spain) led Quintanar to a victory against the ninth-ranked Casvi 90-76 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Ndiaye recorded 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. He averaged so far 13.9ppg and 7.4rpg in 30 games.

   #9. Mouhamadou Diop (212-C-87, currently plays in Spain) contributed to L'Hospitalet's victory against the 11th-ranked Fontedoso Carrefour 82-75 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday. Diop scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 24 minutes. This year his total stats are: 9.8ppg and 6.0rpg in 33 games.

   #10. Serigne Niang (202-C/F-88, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Nautico Tenerife in their game against Real Madrid II in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Niang recorded only 4 points in 17 minutes. His team was edged 93-90. This year Niang's total stats are: 7.9ppg and 2.7rpg in 29 games.
