We bring you last week's top performances from Senegalese players who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former U18 international center Youssoupha Fall (221-95, currently plays in France). Fall led SIG Strasbourg to a victory against the league leader Cholet Basket (18-1) 96-82 in the French Jeep ELITE last Saturday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. Fall also added 2 blocks. SIG Strasbourg (11-8) is placed sixth in the Jeep ELITE. Fall has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.5bpg, 2FGP: 67.1%(100-149) and FT: 58.3%. Fall played for the Senegalese U18 national team seven years ago.

Moussa Diagne

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Moussa Diagne (211-94, currently plays in EuroCup). Diagne could not help Andorra (5-1) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance the second-placed Andorra (5-1) was badly defeated 72-53 on the road by the leading Unics Kazan in the group H of Eurocup. Diagne was the top scorer with 12 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Diagne's team will play only one more game in the Eurocup Top 16. And that game will be critical. Diagne's overall stats this season are: 7.5ppg, 5.1rpg, 2FGP: 61.0%(36-59) and FT: 76.2%. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and Spanish. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Diagne played for the Senegalese national team in 2016.

   #3. The Senegalese player who performed third best last week abroad was former international point guard Clevin Hannah (179-87, agency: BeoBasket, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Euroleague). He was not able to help Gran Canaria in their game against Anadolu Efes (15-7) in the Euroleague, despite his very good performance last Thursday. Hannah was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 5 passes in 25 minutes. But Gran Canaria was badly defeated 93-74 in Istanbul by the much higher-ranked (#4) Anadolu Efes. It was Gran Canaria's seventh consecutive loss in a row. It's Hannah's first season with the team. Hannah has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 1.5rpg, 4.5apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 47.9%, 3FGP: 37.1% and FT: 90.9%(30-33) in 10 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and American. Hannah played for the Senegalese national team two years ago.

   #4. An experienced power forward Jules Aw (202-86, currently plays in Switzerland) led Massagno to a 3-point victory over the league leader Geneve Lions (13-3) 80-77 in the Swiss SBL on Sunday night. He was MVP of the game. Aw recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 4 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. SAM Basket Massagno (2-2) is placed third in the SBL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Aw has very high stats. He averages: 18.3ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.6apg and 1.9spg. Aw has both Senegalese and Swiss nationalities. He used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2007.

   #5. International forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Unicaja Malaga (3-3) 105-89 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game. Faye scored 7 points in only 14 minutes. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (2-4) is placed third in group G. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. The Top 16 already ended in the Eurocup. This year Faye's overall stats are: 8.0ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.6apg in 13 games. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

   #6. Center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Minnesota Timberwolves (25-30) in their game against the New Orleans Pelicans (25-31) in the NBA. Dieng scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. But the Minnesota Timberwolves (25-30) were defeated 122-117 in New Orleans by the Pelicans. It was Timberwolves' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Dieng has been at the team for six years. His total stats this season are: 5.7ppg and 4.1rpg. Dieng is an international player who is currently on the senior Senegalese National Team roster.

International center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, agency: Octagon Europe, college: Cincinnati, currently plays in Poland) managed to help Polski Cukier Torun in a victory against one of league's weakest teams Spojnia Stargard (4-14) 85-75 in the Polish EBL in Saturday night's game. Mbodj scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 17 minutes. Polski Cukier Torun (15-3) is placed second in the EBL. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This year Mbodj has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.3apg and 1.8bpg in 18 games. He is also Senegalese national team player.

   #8. Center Hamady N'Diaye (213-87, college: Rutgers, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Sidigas AV (11-7) in their game against Virtus Bologna (10-9) in the Italian Serie A. He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. N'Diaye scored only 2 points and blocked 3 shots in 10 minutes. Sidigas AV was crushed 88-66 in Bologna by the lower-ranked (#7) Virtus. It was Sidigas AV's third consecutive loss in a row. This year N'Diaye's total stats are: 7.6ppg, 4.9rpg and 2.1bpg in 12 games. He plays currently for the Senegalese national team.

Former international power forward Babacar Toure (205-85, currently plays in Switzerland) was the major contributor in Fribourg's victory against the seventh-ranked Pully (1-10) 81-75 in the Swiss SBL last Saturday. Toure scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Fribourg Olympic (11-0) is placed first in the SBL. So far his team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. Toure has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 9.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1bpg in 14 games. He used to play for the Senegalese national team five years ago.

   #10. Swingman Diouf Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Toshiba Thunders (23-16) in their game against Kyoto Hannaryz (22-17) in the Japanese B League. Diouf scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Toshiba Thunders (#2) were edged 88-85 in Kyoto by the second-ranked Hannaryz in the Central group. Diouf plays seventh season for the team. He has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 3.5rpg. Diouf is a former international player as twelve years ago he still played for the Senegalese senior national team.

   #11. Former U18 international power forward Cheikh Sane (207-92, college: Marshall, currently plays in Denmark) couldn't help Horsens IC in their game against Bakken in the Danish BasketLigaen, despite his very good performance last Friday. He recorded 13 points (made all of his five free throws) in 28 minutes. But his team lost 94-101. Sane has averaged so far 6.1ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3spg in 10 games. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team eleven years ago.

   #12. Former international center Pape Faye (200-87, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Osaka Evessa in their game against Aishin Sea Horses in the Japanese B League. Faye recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was badly defeated by 20 points 98-78. He has averaged so far 8.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.1apg. Faye used to play for the Senegalese national team back in 2017.

   #13. Former U18 international power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Phoenix Galati 99-80 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. He scored 9 points, had 10 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 30 minutes. Barro has reliable stats this year: 12.7ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.7spg in six games. He used to play for the Senegalese U18 national team seventeen years ago.

   #14. U18 international center Biram Faye (206-0, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Fontedoso Carrefour in their game against Azpeitia ISB in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Despite his very good performance last Sunday Faye was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Faye averaged so far 11.0ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.3bpg. He plays currently for the Senegalese U18 national team.

   #15. International point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83, currently plays in France) contributed to Charleville-Mezieres' victory against the 14th-ranked Aubenas 78-68 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. d'Almeida recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in 36 minutes. His stats this year are: 14.6ppg, 4.2rpg, 6.6apg and 1.3spg in 23 games. d'Almeida is also in the roster of the Senegalese national team.


The list of other players, who all have Senegalese passport but never been selected to any of Senegalese national teams:

   #1. Amath M'Baye (206-F-89, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) led his Italian team Virtus Bologna to a victory over the fourth-ranked Promitheas (8-6) 98-91 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. M'Baye had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. Virtus Segafredo Bologna (10-4) is placed first in group D. His team will play only one more game in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's M'Baye's first season with the team. M'Baye has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg in 14 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Senegalese and French.

   #2. Michel Diouf (208-C-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) could not help Bakken (3-3) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the third-placed Bakken (3-3) was edged 125-124 at home by the leading Avtodor in the group L of FIBA Europe Cup. Diouf was the top scorer with 22 points. He also added 7 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 32 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. It's Diouf's fourth season with the team. Diouf has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.7bpg in 12 games.

   #3. Malik Dime (206-F/C-92, college: Washington, currently plays in Bulgaria) contributed to Rilski's victory against the closely-ranked Spartak Pleven (6-9) 96-89 in the Bulgarian NBL on Saturday night. He scored 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Rilski Sportist Samokov (9-5) is placed fourth in the NBL. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Dime has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 4.0bpg in five games. He is another player who holds two passports: Senegalese and American.

   #4. Ilimane Diop (210-C-95, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria to win against the closely-ranked Bayern Muenchen (11-11) 76-68 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Diop recorded only 4 points. Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria (11-11) is placed eighth in the Euroleague. Diop plays sixth season for the team. His total stats this year are: 4.8ppg and 3.0rpg. Diop has both Senegalese and Spanish nationalities.

   #5. Mame Souleye (206-C-87, currently plays in Qatar) was the major contributor in an Al Wakrah's victory against the league leader Al Shamal (12-3) 64-55 in the Qatari D1 last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 15 rebounds. Souleye also added 2 blocks in 34 minutes. Al Wakrah (9-6) is placed fifth in the D1. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. This year Souleye has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg, 10.3rpg and 1.3apg in eight games. He also holds two passports: Senegalese and Qatari.

   #6. Diarra Sidate (210-F-90, currently plays in Japan) contributed to a Cyberdyne IR's victory against the third-ranked Dragonflies 98-91 in the Japanese B2 League on Friday night. Sidate scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Sidate's total stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 3.8rpg. He has Senegalese and Japanese nationalities.

   #7. Mamadou Niang (209-C-94, currently plays in Spain) helped CB Canarias win their game against the league leader FC Barcelona 63-57 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. Niang recorded only 2 points. Niang's total stats this season are: 3.0ppg and 2.1rpg.

   #8. Lamine Diane (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the CS Northridge (2-2) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Diane's very good performance his team was defeated 70-64 on their home court in Northridge by the Univ. of California-Santa Barbara. He scored 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 5 rebounds. Diane has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 24.3ppg, 10.7rpg, 2.0apg, 2.2bpg and 1.5spg.

   #9. Mamadou Samb (210-C/F-89, currently plays in Spain) helped Real Betis win their game against the 16th-ranked Araberri crushing them 81-55 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. Samb scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Samb has averaged so far 3.4ppg and 3.4rpg. He has Senegalese and Spanish nationalities. Despite Samb's Senegalese passport, he previously played for the Spanish U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Senegalese team.

   #10. Yande Fall (203-C/F-90, currently plays in Italy) helped Viola RC win their game against the 12th-ranked Palermo GB 85-67 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Sunday night's game. Fall had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 16 rebounds in 32 minutes. Fall has reliable stats this year: 10.1ppg and 8.7rpg in 19 games. He has dual citizenship: Senegalese and Italian.
